Individual and Group Volunteer Opportunities

  • Child Care: Provide childcare during client meetings by playing with and supervising children and preparing snacks. Respite childcare during evenings or weekends. Hours: Variable as needed

  • Overnight Client Advocate: Spend 1 or 2 nights a month sleeping over. Respond to any calls and situations that arise at the shelter or the crisis line (staff on-call always available).Hours: Friday or Sunday nights: 10:45 PM - 7 AM (Occasional weekday nights as needed)

  • Transportation: Transport clients to appointments (medical, legal, etc.) or to run business errands (bank, post office, etc.). Hours: Variable as needed

  • Cleaning & Maintenance: Perform house and ground maintenance (paint, weed, trim bushes, rake yard, etc.) Hours: Variable as needed

  • Coordinating Donations: Help organize new donations, as well as donations already at Shelterhouse. Hours: Variable as needed

  • Fundraising, Special Events and Community Outreach: Assist with various fundraising activities, conferences, workshops etc. Staff community booths, distribute agency information and help with various awareness activities. Hours: Variable as needed

  • Hospital Response: Respond to the hospital to provide sexual assault victims and their families with information and support (training provided through the sexual assault program)

  • Clerical Assistance/ Crisis Phone: Answer telephones, assist with client needs. Hours: Variable as needed
