Programs & Services

From community education and prevention programs to counseling services and assisting survivors in crisis situations, Shelterhouse provides comprehensive services to those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault.  In addition, we provides emergency shelter – a safe haven for sexual assault and domestic violence survivors and their children.  No matter the time of day or night, our clients can count on our compassionate, professional staff and safe location. Our services are free and confidential.* *Assailant services are offered on a sliding fee scale based on ability to pay. *All Shelterhouse services are confidential with exceptions to prevent homicide or suicide, as required by child protection laws, and in accordance with other applicable federal and state laws and regulations.

Safety Planning

Your safety is always the first priority.  Our staff will work with you to develop your own personalized safety plan as well as discuss with you other ways to stay safe in your daily life.

Domestic Violence

At Shelterhouse, we provide our clients with free, caring and confidential support and help them live their life free from violence.  Those who have survived domestic violence often struggle with the process of healing.  

Sexual Assault

Sexual assault is a very personal and destructive crime.  At Shelterhouse, we provide programs and services to help our clients who may be suffering from the physical, emotional and/or psychological effects of sexual assault.

Youth Services

The Shelterhouse Children’s Program provides individual, family, and group counseling to children and adolescents impacted by domestic and/or sexual violence within Gladwin and Midland Counties.
