Teen Room Makeover

MOVE THAT BUS! The Shelterhouse basement has been transformed into an awesome space for teens!

Click here to see the concept designs and the exciting changes that have taken place thanks to the hard work of CMU students and volunteers.

This room has a reading nook, study desk, and a comfy couch and a 32" flat screen tv.

The colorful pacman pillows were sewn by area high school students as a class project, the mirror was recycled from the inside of a broken television. Lots of "sweat equity" went into this cool hangout by community volunteers. Thanks for making such a special place.

Are You Being Controlled Through Your Cell Phone?

Cell phones are great, right?  They let you keep in touch with your friends.  You can find things on the Internet.  You can text back and forth to find out what's going on. However, thesafespace.org, a website devoted to helping teens understand and prevent dating violence, warns about when cell phones go from being a way to keep in touch to being a way to being controlled or abused.

Dow High Student Enters winning Shelterhouse Design!

Carol Lewin’s commercial senior art students at Dow High were challenged to design materials for the Shelterhouse 4:1 endowment campaign.
