Children's Services

Our masters-level counselors work with children on an individual basis and in groups. Children learn to identify and talk about feelings and experiences related to domestic violence and/or sexual abuse. Safety planning is an important focus, enabling children to protect themselves and respond appropriately to dangerous or frightening situations. Many other issues such as self-esteem, social skills, and behavioral problems can also be addressed. Our children's staff will do everything possible to help the child work through a difficult and scary time.

Parents' Services

Individual counseling and support groups are available for parents, focusing on the effects of violence and abuse on children. Family communication skills, appropriate discipline techniques, resources in the community, divorce and custody issues and many other topics will be addressed.

Educational Services and School Programming

Our Children's Program staff provides individual or group counseling in a school setting. They also present domestic violence or sexual assault prevention programs for all ages in the classroom or small group setting. One of the most popular programs for teens is "Love-All That and More" which addresses how to form healthy relationships, boundaries, gender stereotypes, power and control issues, and communication skills. This program is appropriate for Life Skills or Health and Wellness classes.
